Forged iron just over 2" length. Finely forged. Finely forged. Tapered, wedge section striking bar. Curved terminal opposite forming the finger stall and ending with a swelled base point, possible a stylized monster head. The curvilinear form is suggestive of the prow of the Viking long warship. The striking bar with a thin 1/8” width additional bar overlapping the base. The only example with that feature, the purpose of which is now lost, we have encountered. Conserved sound excavated condition.
